The OSE monitors European policies that may have an impact on national health care and health insurance systems. This is done under a study agreement with the Belgian National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (NIHDI). The focus is not only on health policies but also on other policy areas (such as economic policy, social policy, employment policy, the single market, etc.) and on EU case law.

• Since April 2007, a quarterly bulletin has been published providing an overview of recent developments in these various areas.
• Since January 2025, a biannual briefing offers a more in-depth analysis of the priorities set by the rotating Presidencies of the Council of the EU and the European Commission.
